“Every line of code you write is a decision you made instead of something else you could have written,” said White. “And this is why developers are so finicky with things like different coding styles and formatting. It’s because it’s a creative expression, like writing, but it’s more pure than that in some ways because programming is a pure expression of the mind. Programming is more similar to poetry than any other writing form.”
