Sailthru Ranked the #88 Fastest Growing Company on Deloitte’s 2015 Technology Fast 500™
November 13, 2015
Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 has been recognizing the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America for more than 20 years. These are the businesses that have transformed our world and over the last two decades, software technology has been the industry on the rise in the winner’s circle. In 2014 nearly 50% of winning companies came from software technology, and in 2015 57% have been called to the stage.
After having posted 1,010% growth in the last four years, Sailthru has been ranked as the 88th Fastest Growing Company in North America on Deloitte’s 2015 Technology Fast 500, earning the highest ranking for any marketing technology in email, personalization and customer retention.
Marketing has changed more in the last five years than it has in the last century. Sailthru’s growth is further evidence that tides are turning away from legacy technologies and marketing clouds and, instead, marketers are now investing in organizational design, infrastructure and technologies that enable agility.
Customer retention has emerged as one of the most significant opportunities for digital marketers. The statistics that have made the rounds in retail and publishing over the last year make a clear case:
• 80% of a brand’s future revenue will come from just 20% of existing customers (Gartner)
• 5% increase in customer retention can increase profitability by 25% – 95% (Bain & Co)
Retention is at the core of our model, and our continued growth over the last four years validates that even amid thousands of marketing technologies, there is a continued need for partners who make it easy to solve today’s modern marketing challenges.
Without our customers’ willingness to innovate, Sailthru would have never experienced this sustained growth. We have the privilege of working with Internet Retailer Top 500 Retailers, including JustFab and The Clymb, and global publishers, including The Economist and Business Insider who are just as eager to evolve the way they engage with customers as we are. They help drive our passion to create even better solutions that dramatically increase revenue through retention strategies.
Here’s a glimpse at how a rising tide lifts all boats.
The Clymb: Reinventing the ecommerce experience
Before partnering with Sailthru, IR 500 leader, The Clymb, relied primarily on demographic data to fuel their email marketing program due to limitations of their legacy email marketing partner. They knew they needed to advance their sophistication from segmentation to personalization in order to compete. When they selected Sailthru as their technology provider for email marketing, data and analytics, and cross-channel personalization, The Clymb was able to increase the performance of their customer retention efforts via personalized email and onsite interactions. The results The Clymb achieved were impressive:
• 71% increase in total email revenue
• 72% decrease in customer churn
• 175% increase in revenue per send
“While the larger marketing clouds move quickly, we needed to move faster,” said Craig Schinn, Senior Director of Ecommerce at The Clymb. “Sailthru allowed us to level jump to where we needed to be. Not only are they ahead, with the products being fully integrated — legacy vendors just can’t complete.”

Business Insider: Leading the way for modern publishing
By creating a testing centric culture across their organization — including the newsroom — Business Insider has become the fastest growing business news publication in the world and has reset the bar for success in the age of digital media. They’ve partnered with Sailthru for several years to increase both retention and acquisition. By creating a connected experience across email and web this customer has increased multiple key metrics including:
• 60% increase in email clickthrough rates
• 52% increase in re-circulation traffic
• 300% increase in ad click rates on newsletter
“I would definitely recommend Sailthru,” said Breton Fischetti, Director of Business and Audience Development at Business Insider. “With Sailthru, our email and onsite personalization is so accurate that my mom who is a Business Insider subscriber thinks that I select the stories for her personally.”
