Here at Marigold Engage by Sailthru, we take cybersecurity very seriously. Strict security considerations are at the forefront of every feature we ship, every message that’s sent from our platform, and every interaction your customers have with you. With the holiday season kicking into full gear earlier than ever before and the election coming up, we recommend taking regular stock in the security measures around your marketing efforts.

We know you care about the security of your Marigold Engage by Sailthru account, and so do we. In honor of October being National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, here are 10 ways you can keep your Marigold Engage by Sailthru account secure:

Cybersecurity Tip 1: Use a Password Unique to Sailthru

If you use the same password across multiple software and services, a breach to one of those systems may mean a breach to all of them. We recommend passwords be:

  • At least 30 characters long
  • A mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Something difficult to guess. Using a password manager like 1Password or LastPass can help.

Cybersecurity Tip 2: Make Sure Each Member of Your Team Has a Unique Login

Its easy to invite additional users to your account to avoid the need to share login details. Login details should be unique to every individual using Sailthru.

Cybersecurity Tip 3: Add an Extra Layer of Security with Single Sign-On

We highly recommend Single Sign-On (SSO). It prevents the need for additional passwords and is easy to set up with your organization’s workspace such as Okta or Azure; email provider, including Google Workspace and Office365 for example; or any SAML-compliant SSO provider.

If SSO isn’t available, enable two-factor authentication, which allows you to log in with an SMS number sent to your phone. You can quickly set this up in your account’s settings.

Cybersecurity Tip 4: Regularly Rotate Your API Key

If you’re running integrations or sending email using our API, we suggest regularly rotating your key. This prevents unwanted access to your account. You can easily generate your own new API key at any time.

Cybersecurity Tip 5: Be Aware of Possible Phishing Attempts

Criminals use phishing emails to trick people into handing over sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, PIN numbers, and credit card details. Phishers will go to great lengths to try to take over your account or steal your personal information. They may create fake websites that look like Sailthru or send emails that imitate us, and ask you for personal information. We will never send you an email asking you to provide your personal or credit card information.

Cybersecurity Tip 6: Keep Your Computer Safe

To ensure the best possible Sailthru experience, it’s important to keep your computer free of malware and viruses. Two signs that may indicate your computer has been infected:

  • Unusually slow or slugging computer performance
  • Unexpected reboots, crashes or freezing

If you think your computer might be infected, use the anti-malware, anti-adware, or anti-virus software recommended by your computer manufacturer or a trusted IT professional.

Cybersecurity Tip 7: Report Fraudulent or Suspicious Activity

At Marigold Engage by Sailthru, we take fraud very seriously. If you notice suspicious activity, please contact us immediately so we can help you investigate.

Cybersecurity Tip 8: Sign Out of Unused Devices

If you are planning to get rid of a device, first sign out of all accounts and services that you used, including Sailthru.

Cybersecurity Tip 9: Always Report Security Flaws to Us

If you believe you’ve found a security vulnerability within Marigold Engage by Sailthru, please contact us as quickly as possible. Don’t disclose the vulnerability publicly until it is fixed. We appreciate your help and rest assured, we review all security flaws submitted.
